Unit 3-Hardest and Easiest Topics...

For me in Unit 3, there are no hard and easy topics. Since I took sophomore English last year but failed the first semester because I didn't turn in any work, all of the topics that we cover in Unit 3 is a big review for me. So all of the topics are fairly the same.

K's Death In Flashback

I think the author introduced K's death in a flashback because in chronological order, it would've taken too long. In a flashback, the author can describe the whole scenario to the reader and it makes it more interesting. It also gives us the whole scene so we understand how and why K's death happened the way it did.

Tragedy

My definition of tragedy is something terrible that happens. Tragedy mens something different to everyone. A tragedy could be as small as forgetting something at home, or as big as a death. To everyone it means something different. To me, a tragedy is as small as someone dying, being cheated on, raped, etc. to as big as a serial killer killing your family, town, etc.

Chronological Order Advantages and Disadvantages

The advantages of telling a story in chronological order are that all of what happened is in order for the reader, watcher, listener, etc. It's not all jumbled into one story so you have to think of what happened when. In a chronological story, everything flows together smoothly in order. The disadvantages of telling a story in chronological are that the writer can't use anything like flashbacks that could help tell what led to the events. Without flashbacks, readers have no image of what happened in the past that holds clues for what the writer is telling us, so the reader can't have a full understanding of the story.

How Would "There Will Come Soft Rains" Be Different With Flashbacks...?

If the author had used flashbacks, the story could've been quite different. With flashbacks, we could've seen how the family had started their regular day, what was going on, etc. We could also have seen why, and when, the bomb or whatever it was, went off. We could've also seen what was around the family and their home before it all turned to ashes, and why the families house was the only one left standing.

House Of The Future

The house of the future will probably be different than houses today. With all of the technology advances, who knows what will happen to anything, especially houses? People could invent a program for a house to be able to talk to and interact with the family, kind of like a smart house. It'll look like a regular house, with all of the appliances and furniture inside that every house needs and/or has. If someone does by chance invent the program for the house to be able to communicate with people, then the people could tell the house to make breakfast, turn on the TV, call someone, etc. With houses in the future, they'll probably have some kind of scanner that allows you in the house if you live there only. This way, the house can't be broken in to. Since we can't tell what's gonna happen in the future, yet alone the next year, everything is possible. Nothing is guaranteed to happen so anything could happen to the house of the future.

Straightforward Or Mysterious Stories?

I like mysterious stories because you have to use your brain some to think of what might happen. Mysterious stories also usually have cliff hangers and they make you want to continue on reading. Mysterious stories have always been my favorite because I love the suspense and the wondering of what's going to happen next. That's what keeps me reading.
